Caring for the environment is a top priority at WordCare. Our planet is still the only one we can call home, which makes protecting it a shared responsibility. We make a conscious effort to sort our waste, bring reusable bags when shopping, and turn off the tap while brushing our teeth. Yet, one thing we often overlook is paper.
First Things First – Paper
Due to the nature of our business, at WordCare™ we don’t need to print many documents—only what’s absolutely necessary. Everything else can easily be sent via email or stored digitally!
That’s why we took a closer look at which documents were being printed most often—and the results were eye-opening. The majority of our paper usage came from printing contracts. Each contract had to be printed in two copies, which meant that starting support services for a single website required dozens of sheets of paper.
Today, starting a partnership with us doesn’t require printing any documents at all.
We’ve also taken steps to become a Zero Waste company! Read more.
A few facts about paper:
- 93% of the world’s paper comes from trees
- One tree produces enough oxygen to sustain three people
- The average employee in the financial sector uses around 1 kilogram of paper… per day
- If all the paper used in a year were gathered, it could form a 4-meter-high paper wall stretching from New York to California
- The office sector consumes the most paper (including catalogs, brochures, and traditional correspondence)
- 50% of the waste produced by business professionals consists of paper
- If we recycled half of the paper currently in the world, we would save 20 million acres of forest from being cut down
- 95% of global business data is still stored in paper form
- It takes 5 liters of water to produce a single A4 sheet of paper
